Lately scientists have been studying and researching that the secret to losing weight isn't to cut carbohydrates, it's to consume more protein in your diet. These studies have shown that protein suppresses your appetite. These scientists did this study by having 19 volunteers with different diets. The results from this study show that when an increased protein intake of 15%-30% they felt less hungry, and also the calories from fat were reduced from 35% to 20%. One element of these tests were that the carbohydrate intake was kept constant and the protein was increased, Compared to the Atkins Diet, which demonstrates a no carbohydrate intake of any kind and increased amount of protein. This basically states its not the reduced carbohydrates that are making you loose weight it's the amount of protein consumed that makes you feel full therefore causes you not to eat as much. You need carbohydrate in your diet to function on a day-to-day basis. Carbohydrates are good for you, now eliminating simple carbohydrates such as candy; white bread and sugary drinks are good. Carbohydrates are our main source of energy and eliminating it can cause fatigue and illness. Scientist say it's important to figure a way to have people eat less. The old saying states, " eat less and exercise more" its true. In another study scientists put volunteers on three different eating programs. First, for two weeks, subjects ate a weight-maintaining diet with 15% of calories from protein, 35% from fat and 50% from carbohydrates. Next, for two weeks they tried a high-protein plan with exactly the same number of calories: 30% from protein, 20% from fat and still 50% from carbohydrates. Volunteers statred feeling less hungry on this high-protein diet. Finally, for the next 12 weeks the scientists made the volunteers eat as many calories as they liked--as long as their intake stuck to that high-protein, low-fat ratio. Even though there was no limit on their calories, during this period the volunteers actually reduced their eating by an average 441 calories a day. They lost an average of 10.8 pounds in body weight and 8.2 pounds in fat mass. These studyies have shown that eating protein for some reason makes you feel less hungry than carbohydrtaes or fat. Scientist used to think that humans have concsious control over appetite and body weight regulation, I was thinking this could not be, because if this were true there would be no obese people cause who
