ENC 1101, Tuesday Nights

Picture a very young girl in her early teens, she is alone and has no one to love but a man who had recently entered her life. This young girl has no one to show her affection and she finds herself in an inappropriate relationship with a complete stranger she just met. This man has is older then she is and is able to manipulate her into conceiving a child with him. I now ask you what you would do if you had to walk her foot steps. The girl in this story I speak of is myself! At the age of 16 I was pregnant with no way out of the mess I had gotten myself into. There was no one around to guide or support me and the father of the child disapproved of the entire situation and even threatened my life. Feeling like my entire life had come to an end, terrified and confused of what decision to make, I considered aborting my child. That is one mistake I will never make in my life again. By the end of this paper I would like for try visualize and understand the emotional and physical damages this medical procedure can cause to a woman.

As someone who has been through an abortion and now regrets it, I can see from both sides of the field; the good about the procedure and its immediate solution along with the dark side. At such an early age, no woman would want to be stuck with a child for whom they are not able to care for. However, abortions have many consequences; one of those being a physical disadvantage to your health. Once a woman has gone through the process of an abortion, they are then left to deal with the long-term internal damages. The process of an abortion is the forcing of a miscarriage or actual removal of the placenta. During that procedure there may be some internal scarring. When scaring occurs you are prone to any and every infection. I know you may be thinking that this wont happen to you or that it has not happened to you, however, even if you are not scarred physically during the procedure the muscles in your uterus have already been weakened and this may cause you to have a difficult time conceiving in the future. Then once you finally conceive there is a 127% chance that you will give premature labor. As stated in Straight-talk.com, 2% of women who have abortions suffer from life threatening complications such as bleeding, fever, infections, etc. The list of abortion after-math goes on and on. This must be put a stop to.

Abortion is moreover morally wrong. There is not one day that passes by that I don't look at myself and think of what I have done in the past. Although, this happened a very long time ago... but somehow I cannot find myself forgetting about it, I feel morally and emotionally scarred. I often find myself wondering how it would be if I would have proceeded with my pregnancy and given birth to a wonderful healthy child of mine. I wonder till this day how old my child would have been. If I only had someone there to guide me and tell me that having an abortion was not the best decision. For this reason I urge those who are considering it to stop and think of these consequences. Another fact is that there are many people out there who are not able to conceive. They spend half of their entire life working on raising a family and
