Personal Accident Essay

During an unwinding visit to Boston, Massachusetts, my family and I received a call that my grandma was involved in an accident where she had fractured her femur. After an arduous recovery process after the surgery, my grandmother had to undergo physical therapy to advance and expedite her recovery process. I had to go to all her appointments and translate for her while demonstrating all of the exercises for her in the clinic and at home. As she gradually started to heal and feel better, I noticed that even I was benefiting from the therapy and it wasn’t even necessary for me to go through it. This sparked an interest in becoming a physical therapist in my near future and I believe that Hofstra University can help me attain my goal.

Hofstra University in Hempstead, NY has numerous amounts of opportunities and applying here will open up these broad sets of options for me to take advantage of. Since I plan to seek after a vocation in health science, I see Hofstra University as the Holy Grail of instruction. Offering the noteworthy scholarly and specialized assets of a prestigious medical college, Hofstra would give me the certainty of realizing that I would get the most forward-centered training in pursuing a career in physical therapy. Through constant research, I’ve learned that Hofstra offers strong foundations in science and promotes cross cultural learning experiences. Even if, for some odd occurrence, that I no longer want to pursue any career in health science, Hofstra would also be a great fit because of the many majors and minors they offer that will broaden my understanding of what I could pursue in my near future.         While on a tour of Hofstra University’s campus, I couldn’t help but notice the welcoming environment that it offers. Not only did I feel at home in this environment, but I could sense the sense of community between the alumni and the sense of openness between them while exchanging their ideas. Whilst exploring the campus, I felt extremely inspired to learn and educate myself and seek one of the various opportunities the beautiful Hofstra campus has to offer. I also got a plethora of information about Hofstra’s proximity to the city and how many internships and shadowing opportunities can emerge from simply attending Hofstra.
