The movie that we watched in class called "The day after tomorrow" was a great movie. It taught us a lot about the earth and its atmosphere. It tells a lot about the way global warming works and how it affects the earth we live in today. A global super storm pushes the planet into a new Ice Age and unfortunately for everyone in the world, the only safe place to be is an international space station. At the beginning of the movie Jack and his crew members were almost killed when a chunk of ice the size of Rhode Island breaks off the Antarctic Ice Shelf. In the movie Jack does some research and suggests a buildup of carbon dioxide has caused polar ice caps to melt, pouring fresh water into oceans and disrupting the North Atlantic current. Three massive super storms were going to push it into a new ice age. While the government was overlooking the storm Jack got his snowshoes and headed to the Manhattan Library in New York to save his son who is trapped in the library with some of his friends form the brain campaign. The only way they are surviving is by burning a bunch of books in a fire because it is so cold, even though the librarian doesn't want them to burn the books. Jacks wife stays with the hospital so she can take care of a cancer patient during the storm. The Vice President won't listen to jack and they end up over looking the storm. There is also a black guy that always stands outside the library and the only thing he has to live for is his dog. The best part about the movie was that the black bum and his dog were okay and they made it out alive. Another cool thing about the movie was that people and buildings kept getting so cold they would just freeze up and break or die. There was one scene with a helicopter and the storm front came in and when it did the propellers froze right up and the plane fell and crashed in the snow. When one of the pilots tried to get out he froze to death.
