Vendite regionali di tecnologie per la visione:

Nord America e Europa si equivalgono sebbene il pensiero comune attribuisce al NA il primato (in effetti и il mercato piщ piccolo anche se di poco)

L'Asia и il mercato piщ grande grazie alla concentrazione di produttori di elettronica di consumo, semiconduttori, sistemi FPD.

Telecamere e Smart Cameras (principalmente venduti a systems integrators) sono i due segmenti piщ grandi.

Punti di forza:

Settore medicale: il 60% delle procedure in medicina sono collegate alla Visione (ultrasound, visible light, x-ray or pet scans).

Caratteristiche regionali:

Europa: in crescita. Investimenti in nuove tecnologie, aumento della produttivitÐo, investimenti nell'industria manifatturiera nell'Europa dell'Est.

US: design center. Come in EU la produzione si sta dislocando verso il Sud America

Observations

- For Europe 2006 and 2007 were strong, 2008 is looking weaker

- German, the UK, Spain are all down in 2008, leading to the EU GDP declining for 2008

- Even the hotshot Eastern European countries are tempering a little.

- For US, 2007 (partly due to overheated housing and mortgage crisis in 2007, works itself out to return US to healthier growth rates, the prediction of 2.2 gdp in 2007 has not proven true (it is higher), the expectation is for growth in 2008 once the credit crisis is over

- Asia: Japan still slow, Korea returns to a higher rate of growth. Asia summary, will improve but not to levels of 2006

- Overall, certainly nothing that indicates a recessionary economy in 2008. Regionally growth may not be as strong as 2007, or it could be stronger, so all in all 2008 looks okay

* Conditions are good for growth in 2008

- Stability in commodity pricing

- Interest rates are still favorable for investments

- GDP rates are generally favorable

- Consumer drivers for 2008

* 2008 Olympics - drives consumer demand

* Going green - hybrid vehicles and products
