Background of author:

The author is a poet, gourmet cook, and travel writer. She has written 5 books of poetry, a creguent contributor to food and travel publications. She also wrote a second volume to "Under the Tuscan Sun," called "Bella Tuscany".

Purpose of Book:

I believe the purpose of this book was to help readers discover the beauty of Italy. It has made me want to someday visit Italy and experience it for myself. I feel the author has accomplished her purpose.

Structure of Book:

The structure of the book is arranged by time sequence. In Chapter one the author first moves to Italy and purchases a house. As each chapter continues, she explains how she fixes up her house. She also explains how life in Italy is for her and her husband.

Style:

The book was difficult to read because there were a lot of Italian words that I didn't understand and which had to be translated. The book was casual as if the author and I were having a conversation. The author was being liberal because she tried to give as much information as possible.

Information:

I've learned about many Italian dishes in the story that the author has talked about in her book. There is an open market on the streets that sells vegetables, fruits, meat, and other hand made things. I've also learned that there are lots of Catholic Churches around Italy.

Personality:

The author seems to be very adventurous. She seems like she loves to explore Italy and it's history. She also feels like a nice person because of the people that she meets. When Frances meets others, they seem to like her personality and they get along well.

Criticism:

The author could have explained a little bit more information on some of the Italian words to make it easier to read and understand. The author describes Italy as if to be very beautiful. It makes me feel like taking a chance on living there in Italy for a difference.
