Prologue-Chapter 3

Jacques Sauniere is murdered in the Louvre, a museum in Paris, by an albino attacker, Silas, because he knows where a secret keystone is hidden. Robert Langdon, a Harvard Symbology professor, is in Paris on business. A policeman is sent to his room because they think he might have information on Sauniere's death. Langdon had plans to meet Sauniere for drinks but had their meeting canceled. Langdon goes to the Louvre with the policeman and meets Bezu Fache, the police captain.

Chapters 4-9

Fache shows Langdon to Sauniere's body, which is positioned strangely. Secretly Fache suspects Langdon to be Sauniere's murderer. Meanwhile, you get introduced to Manuel Aringarosa, the president of Opus Dei, a religious cult, I think. He is on his way to Rome. Back in Paris, Langdon explains to Fache the significance of the way the Sauniere arranges himself before dying. There are other clues that Langdon points out. Sauniere wrote a message next to his body. It is a clue. Langdon suggest that Sauniere meant to arrange his body in the shape of one of Da Vinci's famouse drawings, The Vitruvian Man. Sophie Neveu, Sauniere's granddaughter and cryptologist shows up at the museum claiming she has figured out the code. She tells Langdon to call the U.S. Embassy but the number she gives him is to her own answering machine which tells Langdon that he is in trouble.

Chapters 10-15

Silas arrives and the church Saint-Sulpice because this is where Sauniere told him the ancient secret lies. Langdon uses the restroom to get away from Fache. Sophie meets Langdon in the bathroom to explain her message some more. She tells him that her grandfather wanted her to find him. She tells him that her grandfather has left them clues to something. Silas moves toward the church

Chapters 16-20

Sophie and Langdon hide in the bathroom and the GPS device that was on Langdon out the window onto a truck to make Fache think he had jumped from the window but they are really hiding in the shadows. Once all the police are gone, they move down a stairwell together. Silas enters the church to find the Keystone. Langdon discovers that Sauniere wanted them to look at the Mona Lisa.

Chapters 21-25

Sophie tells Langdon to go to the Embassy without her while she goes to look for the painting. Langdon has a sudden realization and races back to find her. Silas starts to look for the keystone. Sophie looks for any messages in invisible ink by the Mona Lisa. Langdon catches up with her. Langdon says that her grandpa was a member of the Priory of Sion, a secret ancient society.

Chapters 26-30

Sophie and Langdon find a message on the floor. Fache figures out that Sophie helped Langdon escape but they were still in the museum so he sends his men there. A policeman arrests Langdon but Sophie hides. She finds a key. Sophie threatens to break a painting unless the policeman lets Langdon go. Silas kills the nun in the church.

Chapters 32-37

Sophie and Langdon run from the museum and get into Sophie's car. Sophie wonders what the key opens. The cops spot em. Sophie and Langdon continue driving and try to figure out a plan of escape. Langdon looks at the key. Sophie has an idea and drives to the train station.

Sophie and Langdon buy two tickets and get in a taxi. Langdon discovers an address written on the back of the key. Fache tells Collet that the train tickets Sophie bought were probably decoys. Langdon tells Sophie her about the Holy Grail.

Chapters 38-44

Langdon explains to Sophie that the documents the Priory protects are called the Sangreal, or Holy Grail. Silas considers killing himself. Langdon thinks the Grail probably hasn't been moved since then. Sophie wonders if the key is to the Grail itself, but Langdon thinks it unlikely that Sophie's grandfather was so high up in the Priory of Sion that he had access such classified info. Sophie and Langdon make it to the vault only to find that they need an account number to access the box. Fache sends Collet to the bank to apprehend Langdon and Sophie. Sophie and Langdon try to figure out the account number. Langdon and Sophie have only one chance to enter the correct account number into the computer. Sophie and Langdon are surprised when they hear gurgling noises coming from inside the chest.

Chapters 45-52

Vernet puts Sophie and Langdon in the back of an armored truck, changes into a driver's uniform, and hides a gun under his clothes. Silas is extremely upset that he has let down Bishop Aringarosa. Inside the box, Sophie and Langdon find a ball with letters written on each of its five panels. Sophie and Langdon discuss the meaning of the rose that is on top of the box. Langdon realizes that they must be holding the Priory keystone. Vernet tells Langdon and Sophie to give him the box. Langdon bursts out of the door, takes the box back, and gets back into the truck while Sophie drives away. Langdon proposes that he and Sophie visit his friend Sir Leigh Teabing. They head toward Teabing's house, Chвteau Villette.

Chapters 53-61

Langdon smuggles the cryptex into Teabing's house and hides it underneath a divan in the grand sitting room. Langdon and Sophie sit on the divan and Teabing enters the room. Langdon says that Sophie doesn't know the true story of the Grail, and Teabing says he will tell her.Teabing shows Sophie a picture of the Da Vinci fresco The Last Supper.

Langdon explains that the Holy Grail is a woman. He shows Sophie the ancient symbol for male and female. At this point the servant, Rйmy, sees photos of Sophie and Langdon on television. Collet receives a tip about Langdon's and Sophie's location.

Teabing and Langdon show Sophie all of the books that substantiate their claims about the bloodline of Mary. Then Teabing's servant calls him into the kitchen.

Chapters 62-67

Teabing is about to throw Sophie and Langdon out, but when Sophie mentions that they have found the keystone, he lets em stay. Langdon tells Teabing that all of the members of the Priory are dead. Langdon tells Teabing where the keystone is. Silas enters the house secretly with his gun. Teabing, Langdon, and Sophie look
