Project plan of HR Integration of Riordan Manufacturing

The project manager received a service request number SR-rm-004 from requesters' эHugh McCauley, COO and Mark Neitzel, VP Operations to "Analyze the HR system to integrate эthe existing variety of tools in use today into a single integrated application" (University of эPhoenix, n.d.).э

Background of Request

Riordan Manufacturing "would like to take advantage of a more sophisticated эinformation systems technology" (University of Phoenix, n.d.), centralize database, full access эavailability from all locations through web page. э

Expected Results э

The expected results of the project of HR integration system are managing Human эResources activities; the new system will be used to track the following information: э

* Personal information (such as name, address, marital status, birth date, etc.)э

* Pay rate

* Personal exemptions for tax purposes

* Hire date

* Seniority date (which is sometimes different than the hire date)э

* Organizational information (department for budget purposes, manager's name, etc.)э

* Vacation hours (for non-exempt employees)э

The new system will be integrated with finance modules, ensure protected data from эhacker, and data security with different levels of access.э

Description of current environment

HR data of Riordan Manufacturing is fragmented into different systems, manual system эor managed by third-party provider. The main current part of HR system is a part of financial эsystem and not covers all human resources department activities.э

Timeframe of HR integration project

The implementation time of the project will be six months starting on April 2, 2007 to эOctober 24, 2007.э

Project plan

The project plan of HR integration system is consist of nine stages which include:э

Stage 1: kickoff meeting э

The duration of this stage is 10 days, it includes the following activities: project manager эwill meet Hugh McCauley to understand the requirements, budget and time constraint of the эproject. System analyst will review the current system and database to assessing the current эsituation to define the problems. The project manager will эdefine the roles of the project, identify эresources, forming teams, draft project plan эand wait until the management approved it to transit эto the next stage.э

Stage 2: analysis

The duration of this stage is 13 days, it includes the following activities: system эanalysis эwill analyze the current situation through personnel interview and reviewing the current эdocuments, and then he will submit his analysis to management then wait to get the feedback эfrom management to incorporate it in his analysis. The project manager will develop the эpreliminary budget and timeline.э

Stage 3: design solution э

The duration of this stage is 17 days, it includes the following activities: system analysis эwill review and develop functional specifications. Project manager will obtain approval on эsolution design to proceed to next stage.э

Stage 4: Implement Design

The duration of this stage is 62 days, it includes the following activities: developers' team эwill reviewing the functional specifications, identifying design parameters, developing HR code, эand make debugging and primary testing.э
