On Shoeing Myself

As an inexperienced rubber shoe user because I used to wear leather shoes during my younger years, putting the shoe lace back when the shoes are dried after washing is an ordeal. I have to come to a deeper comprehension of intertwining the string for my right and left shoes.

So I made some self-help steps. First, I have to study and remember the process of shoe lacing as I undo the knots then I try putting back then finally removing the shoe laces for washing.

Second, when my shoes are already dried ready for the next using, I have to sit and enjoy putting the cords nicely. I usually find a comfortable place sitting on a monobloc chair with the right shoe, heel pointed towards me and the shoe clamped between my thighs.

Third, I get one shoe lace holding its aglet and inserting it to one hole and do the same with the other lace to the opposite hole in beginning of course at those near the toes. I pull the lace upward, balancing the string, where in each end is held by one hand.

Fourth, I insert the aglet of the shoelace in the hole next in the series usually that of the left hand first to the right hole and then the right hand to left hole to make under one, over one twine.

Fifth, I do the lacing until the last hole is done. I make it sure that I followed the left over right in my right shoe, and the opposite which is right over left in my left shoe. Then I wear the shoe and adjust it if it does not fit my foot well.
