Introduction

In 1901, two Swedish immigrants named Carl Wallin and John W. Nordstrom started a shoe store in Seattle, Washington. The shoe store expanded to a family oriented enterprise that was taken over by the Nordstrom family in 1929. Currently Nordstrom has 119 full line stores and 167 Rack stores, with 64,500 employees (analysisreport.morningstar.com). Nordstrom is one of the largest fashion specialty retailers in the United States (www.fundinguniverse.com). Since its establishment Nordstrom has continued to delivery merchandise of high quality, great fashion, and exceptional service, with a focus on apparel, footwear, and fashion accessories (analysisreport.moringstar.com).

Nordstrom introduced online shopping to serve customer globally. This allows customers to browse and buy merchandise in different currency with shipping to 30 countries. Partnered with FiftyOne Global Ecommerce, Nordstrom ensures that the customer will have a consistent shopping experience by integrating global pricing, payment, logistics, and delivery through an automated online order process. FiftyOne Global Commerce helps empower leading US retailers by building on their existing online process to market, sell, and fulfill merchandise to international shoppers with cost certainty (www.borderfree.com).

Nordstrom maintains $58 per share fair value estimate, although this does not include the potential impact of a credit receivables sale and bank partnership, which is up for negotiations in 2015.
