Genocide is considered one of the worst crimes a government can commit against its citizens. Genocide is a crime that intends to murder people because of their group, political, or even economic. During the Bosnian Genocide victims survived by hiding away, although some suffered further abuse while being treated for wounds. In any case, over two dozen soldiers had been taken prisoner by the Serbs and no one wanted to take action that might endanger the hostages' lives.

Nine million Jews resided in Europe before the Holocaust, about two-thirds were killed. Over one million Jewish children were killed in the Holocaust, also their was approximately two million Jewish women and three million Jewish men. Young children were usually targeted by the Nazis to be murdered during the Holocaust. Many children suffocated in the crowded cattle cars on the way to the camps. Those who survived were immediately taken to the gas chambers, carbon monoxide was originally used in the chambers. About six million Jews were murdered during the Holocaust.

Bosnia is one of several small countries that emerged from the break-up of Yugoslavia. Yugoslavia was composed of ethnic and religious groups that had been rivals, even enemies, including the Serbs, Catholics and Muslims. After the death of Tito, a communist, who was a strong leader that maintained ties with Soviet Union and United States during the Cold War; without the strong leadership Yugoslavia quickly plunged into economic and political chaos. In total over two hundred thousand Bosnian Muslims were executed by the Bosnian Serb Army, which were taking orders from the Bosnian Serb President Karadzic and Serbian President Slobodan Milosevic. The Bosnian War lasted from 1992 to 1995. Even though Bosnia-Herzegovina is a united country there still is tensions within its borders. The country still is not totally united and remains an area of Europe where genocidal crimes could occur again.

The Holocaust and the Bosnian genocides are both similar in the way they horrifying, and the reason why the persecuted group where killed, the way the persecuted group was killed, and the way the persecuted group lived during the genocide. During WWII, the Nazi killed the Jews for the same reasons. The reasons were that the Nazis believed the Jews to be an "inferior race". After WW11 the Jews went to Europe.
