There are a lot of grandiose architecture that devoid of our own tradition in Beijing nowadays. As a result, the government made new guidelines about the standard for public buildings. After this, the media and many architects made a quick response to support this policy. What’s more the directive wanted to end up the gated communities and had already been worked on it to make the gated communities become open.

In my opinion, the government shouldn’t regulate the public building. In spite of there are too many strange and foreign buildings like ‘Big Trousers’, please don’t forget there are still lots of traditional architecture, such as the Palace Museum, Summer Palace. Someone thinks that too many modern buildings will make Chinese seems like kind of exocentric, and even they want to change them into conventional buildings. However, don’t you think that the collide of the old and the modern can inspire more unique culture? Beijing, is exactly this kind of city. What’s more, if a building can appear in our city, it means there must be some special things in it that we need to appreciate.

In addition, we should definitely embody Chinese traditional architect characteristic in our new buildings. After all, the architectures are the most visualized things in each city, and it represent the culture of one civilization. Let’s take look of the Nest, it’s a quite good example of the combination of tradition and fashion, and it leaves people in the whole world a great impression. As a result, it’s reasonable for us to put more Chinese elements into our new buildings.

The last thing I want to talk about is the gated community. From my point of view, it’s kind of impossible to change all closed neighborhoods into open ones, and I do not support this directive. For myself, I leave in a gated community, it’s great. I mean there are a medium shop in our neighborhood that can satisfy all my demand, a gym that I can go there freely, a delicate garden that have quiet environment in our community. But, if the government pull down the gate around our community, those things will become completely public, I can never enjoy the comfortable and convenient condition that used to belong to me. Moreover, if there are more people go through my community, maybe it will cause environment pollution in my nice neighborhood! That’s what I can’t bother.
