ARTICLE SYNOPSIS

Since technology has advanced, most businesses are using E-commerce. E-commerce is communications between businesses domestic and international electronically. Mexico followed the footsteps of other countries communicating electronically had to create rules and regulations regarding E-commerce to protect the businesses and owner in the country. They started with drafts for legislating e-commerce then protection under IP law. They also had relying on private agreements and finally, domain name protection. With drafts for legislating e-commerce, they have to create regulations for the e-commerce because Mexico does not have a specific law for e-commerce. Relying on private agreements between businesses and customers because as mentioned earlier Mexico does not have rules and regulations set for e-commerce. Protection under IP law and domain name protection are for businesses because like the customers they need protection from anything that might harm their businesses.

LEGAL ISSUE

The legal issues raised in the article are lack of security for electronic transactions, copyright infringement, and violation of intellectual property laws. Lack of security for electronic transactions can result to identity theft. Copyright infringement and violation of intellectual property laws come from the electronic software that businesses use.

MANAGERIAL PERSPECTIVE

Managers need to clearly know the regulations when it comes to legal issues which any businesses can encounter. Handling them needs help from the legal department of the organization. However, managers are on the operations side, so they need to be involved in determining the importance of laws. As a manager, I will get myself informed about the laws that my organization have to follow, make sure that we are following it, and to have a plan in case a situation may arise that pertains to a specific law. Federal laws and state laws may have differences this is why a person in a managerial position should always be informed in any new laws that may exist and this is for any business or organization.
