Determine quality requirements

To complete this assessment you need to choose a retail organisation you are familiar with, which can provide you access to workplace documentation and resources.

Examples of organisations could be:

 A multi-national or large public company that has resources available online (e.g. Woolworths, McDonalds etc.)

Part A

Imagine the business you have chosen is planning to open up a new store in the heart of the CBD. Identify three different types of stakeholder that would be involved in this project and for each one, explain how you would communicate with them to determine quality objectives and/or standards. This project will be used as a basis for other activities within this assessment.

The primary stakeholders of Nike Inc. are people who take interest in the company and who are affected by the company. Nike engages with a wide range of   stakeholders on a daily basis, including society, industry, government and consumers. Stakeholders are very important to Nike’s strategies, success, and the introduction of new products. Nike knows that contact with stakeholders is most often the approach that brings forth the best feedback to the challenges that they have interest in addressing.

Shareholders: Meeting, Teleconference

Industry: Specification paperwork

Government: Letters, Meeting

Consumers: Email, advertisement.

Part B

Explain how you would resolve a quality issue using two or more different tools, techniques and methodologies.

The Nike Company currently uses flow charts to depict step by step processes when mapping out ideas for events such as new product launch or holiday transitions, run (trend charts) to show what items are selling more/better in a particular area and cause and effect(fishbone diagrams) to show the outcome of the selected reports or ideas. Continuous improvement is used in the company so that it can continue to grow and prosper. Through the use of opinions in which customers lend during customer service surveys as well as their store visits help to keep the company aware of how to become the best in the retail clothing market. Supplier certification as well as inspection at the time the goods are finished is also used for inspection to ensure quality service. Nike also implements the Six Sigma Practices in their routine when assessing the customer service aspect of the company. Through the use of customer surveys and feedback from customers, the company is able to work on the weak areas that can become beneficial.

Explain how quality requirement information would be:

It is essential to share with all stakeholders hence everybody have to reach the same targets. To have a direction or vision can help to do easier the way to achieve goals.

Stakeholder are part of the team, therefore, they need to discuss the decisions. Stakeholders have to give their opinions for discovering new viewpoints. Moreover, most of stakeholder have inverted money and any change can be affect them.

  1. Supported through the team and the stakeholders.

Some decisions required amount of money, therefore, the company need to be supported by stakeholders. Not only money level, also, stakeholders can give their experiences taking important decisions. The main reason is help to make a better company always reaching for progress.

In 2014, these measures a step further, following one of the factories more deeply into questions of leadership mind set and worker engagement. Over the course of this study, our largest, farthest-reaching and longest-running pilot, we trialled different approaches to the types of communication skills needed by factory management and workers, including social dialog; enabled worker-led problem solving on self-identified wellbeing topics; and initiated daily processes to recognize and motivate team performance. The following results represented approximately 2,000 workers at this factory and showed differences of pilot lines and control lines, each averaged across the two-and-a-half years of the pilot:

ƒ 19% higher productivity levels

ƒ 7% better quality levels

ƒ 22% higher worker self-reported levels of being valued

ƒ 12% higher worker self-reported levels of feeling more energized

ƒ 5% higher worker self-reported levels of feeling more supported

  1. Explain how you would use quality metrics and requirements as a basis for performance measurement.

The above metrics are the beginning for the next test, so, the company can be more productive, quality levels, etc. All the companies have to be better in the time, never come back to the old conditions. When the companies are trying to fix their issues, on the way they find more things and they can do them better.
