Prerequisites:

The student must be studying abroad the following semester. The student must be in the Rawls College of Business Administration.

Purpose of this course: To provide students with a logical framework and skill set that will lead to a successful international experience. This course does not substitute for any mandatory paperwork, interviews, or orientations that are required by the office of international affairs. When the dates and times of the orientations are made available they will also be announced in this class. Students, who do not attend this course, complete all pertinent paperwork required by both the office of international affairs and the international business programs office WILL jeopardize the ability to participate in a foreign study experience.

Class material:

Will be provided to the student in the form of PowerPoint slides and lectures. All PowerPoint presentations will be available on the following website http://harper.ba.ttu.edu

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this course students will be able to:

- function in a foreign culture

- able to evaluate different communication techniques

- evaluate different modes of transportation systems

- convert between different monetary currencies

- compare between political systems

- understand countries geographic orientations

- prepared to participate in a foreign study experience

Evaluation Outcomes:

Students will be given quizzes worth 50 % of the grade and an individual project that is worth the other 50% of the grade. Class is mandatory, and quizzes will be given daily. There will be no make up quizzes.

Students with disabilities

Any student who, because of a disabling condition, may require some special arrangements in order to meet course requirements should contact the instructor as soon as possible to make necessary accommodations. Students should present appropriate verification from Disabled Student Services, Dean of Students Office. No requirement exists that accommodations be made prior to completion of this approved University process.
