Counseling Specializations and Multidisciplinary Teams

The diverse specializations within the counseling profession all play sole roles,

Individually specialization has advanced through its own exclusive history aiming at the

same goal which is the wellness of its clients,   The purpose of this paper is  to review the

history, roles and characteristics of two specialty counselor; metal health and addiction which

were chosen.

Impact of a Wellness Model

Wellness model is that persons can proactively pursue wellness and prevention in their own lives through participation in counseling or other mental health services and by acting on their environment to produce needed health –oriented improvements, ( Conyne, Robert, 2016)

Historical Perspective of Key Philosophies

Social work as a profession grew chiefly out of the development of social welfare policies and probations in the United States, Europe, and Muslin Countries Judeo-Christian and Muslins practices and beliefs underlie many of the early attempts to provide help to the poor the sick, widows, orphans, the “insane” has those with problems of mental illness and developmental disability used to be called and the elderly.  This history begins with a discussed of the development of social welfare in Middle eastern and European counties and then moves to the transfer of social welfare policies and practices to the New world of the American colonies.  We then discuss the transition from the work of government officials and “People of good will “who both helped and regulated those who were needy, to the creation of the profession of social welfare as we know it today.   In this section, provide a brief historical perspective of the counseling profession focused on the key philosophies of wellness, resilience, and prevention, identifying the assumptions on which the profession is based.  You must have references to the literature.  Consider the link between these three tenants and the overall purpose of integrating them with clients.  The discussion should be a minimum of 3–5 sentences and should include at least one citation from your readings, applied in APA style.

Key Concepts of Preferred Specialization

 The development Mental Health of the mental health field. This a broas bse field which give counselors the capability to help a multitude of  patients with issues such as; mental illness and families  

Key Concepts of another Specialization

Another specialization that might work well in collaboration with Mental Health counseling. Mental health counseling brings a unique approach to the mental health care professions in that it offers a broader response to the definition of care. Mental health counselor collaboration with psychiatry and clinical psychology.  .

Collaboration between Specializations

In this section, analyze how professionals from the two identified specializations might collaborate to benefit a particular client, identifying the value each professional provides for that client.  This is reflective based upon the knowledge that was discussed regarding preferred and additional specialization. Insight on the topic and examples of the value of working together for the benefit of the client chosen would be beneficial.  The discussion should be a minimum of 3–5 sentences.
