term for a stretched ligament. Strain is the term for a stretched muscle

a sport? Get warmed up first including stretching. Good physical

you get the more prone to injury you are and the longer it takes to

heal. I can speak from experience.

7. What are some treatments for injuries? Generally rest and time are

the most effective. This is also the most common treatment initially

for most injuries. Some injuries require physical therapy and time in

the training room prior to returning to competition. Rare sports

injuries require surgery.

8. What are some of the more rare sports injuries? Fractures of tibia,

Cruciate ligament injuries in the knee (ACL, PCL).

9. What long-term effects do some serious injuries have? Some can

disable an athlete enough that a return to sports is unrealistic. The most

severe injuries in terms of overall function are spine injuries that

can result in paralysis.
