Dear Mr. Editor

Let me start out asking you a hypothetical question. You're a detective. A women reports that a man has just raped her. "Would you confine your search to males or would you include females as well?"(Walter Williams).

Now I know, you say, "wow that would be stupid"

But not if you were afraid of committing the politically correct sin of sexual profiling. Not if Norman Mineta were your supervisor, and your working for the department of transportation.

When regarding to airport security, Mineta said, " While the security Procedures are not based on race, ethnicity, religion, or gender of passengers, we also want to assure that in practice, the system does not disproportionately select members of any particular minority group." In other words, little old ladies traveling to see their grand children, blind and disabled people, and other elderly couples will frisked and hassled threw airport security., to avoid offending Islamic extremists. Boy that really makes sense to me.

Most if not all recent hijackings and terrorists attacks are committed by Muslim terrorists. Not all Muslims are terrorists but all terrorists are Muslims or connected to Muslims. Screening anyone who doesn't fit the terrorist profile should be left to their business unless the goal of airport security is not to have tweezers or G.I. Joe dolls with plastic rifles on the plane.

When law biding American citizens are prime subjects for security profiling, it's unfair. They're upset and rightfully so, the ones to blame are the ones who make "Muslim" nearly synonymous with "terrorist." The truth is the one advantage we have in this war is that we know what they look like and if we don't use it, than that's senseless.

The press on the other hand shies away from the word terrorists. They stumble over words like bombers, assailants, and extremists. But never do we hear murdering Muslim extremists.

Sincerely yours,

Johnny Wilson, student at MHS
