Let me first say, Steve Almond was hilarious. In the beginning of the speech, he read the prologue and part of chapter one of Candy freak. The tone in his voice made his words jump out of his book. Almond was very sarcastic and funny throughout the text. Surprisingly, Almond has a spouse that loves candy as much as he does. Candy to Almond is like great sex. He thinks that a person, who does not like chocolate, is not good in bed. Almond said that if he was at a party and a person blurted out that they did not like chocolate, he would tell them to go to the chip bowl.

Many people in the 8:00 p.m. speech, had a lot of smart comments and questions, but Almond made them look silly; if I were them I would have embarrassed. Almond answered all questions tactfully and sarcastically. He made me laugh the entire time. Throughout his speech, after reading about giving a boy a candy bar with a ruler on it to measure his dick, Almond made continuous jokes about dick. Although his explanation was not that clear, I understood.

I enjoyed attending Almond's speech. I thought he would be boring. He surprised me a lot, and I would have got my book signed, if I did not leave my book in the dorm room. To be honest, when I first read Almond's book Candy freak, I really did not like his book. After I heard Almond read, I had a entirely different look on his book. I thought that Almond was not a freak in real life, but he proved me wrong in many ways. He even said that Halloween is his favorite holiday. Almond does not go "trick-or-treating", but he waits until the next day. On the next day, Almond visits his friends to get their candy. He picks through the candy and gives the children around his neighborhood the "sucky" candy. Almond is one person
