                                          Women and Makeup

I am really interested in the art of makeup. I want to know why do women wear makeup? The purpose of this research is to provide my readers with information and teach them something they may not know as to why women wear makeup. I want my readers to understand there is more to makeup then just painting your face it’s a beautiful art. I also want my readers to understand that there are many ways as to why women wear makeup. It digs down way deeper than people think as to why women wear makeup. There is more to it as why women wear makeup. When I was in middle school that’s when I first to started to wear makeup. I just love the art of makeup it’s like one of my stress relievers.

King, Michelle. "Why Do Women Wear Makeup?" Bustle. Bustle, 12 May 2014. Web. 01 Mar. 2017.

As I was reading this article it really addressed some points and good information to my research question. This article was published on May 12th, 2014 in a magazine called Bustle. This article is reliable because it really explains as to why do women wear makeup. In this article, the author writes about how some women wear makeup for themselves. To start off women mostly began their days with foundation, blush and mascara. The author also states Women wear makeup for themselves so that they can look and feel better about themselves. Some women wear full on foundation just to sit all day in their bedrooms and I completely understand why women do this. Some women do not like to wake up and not feeling pretty or they don’t like to go out without makeup. I could agree with the author because when I was like 16 years old I would not leave my house without putting makeup on, now I don’t care if I’m wearing makeup or not. The author argues that women wear makeup for themselves so that they can feel more comfortable and it can be a form of self-expression and character.

SINICKI, ADAM. "Why Are Men Attracted to Women Who Wear Makeup?" HealthGuidance.org. N.p., n.d. Web. 01 Mar. 2017.

These sources are reliable for me and my readers because the author gives you really good information and explanations as to why women wear makeup. In the first article the author states that women who wear red lipstick are way more attractive than other women who has no lipstick on or another color besides red. For example, a woman in a bar wearing red lipstick, men will most likely approach you more than a woman at a bar wearing no lipstick or a brown or pinkish color. I can agree with this author because I have seen this happen before in person and in movies. In addition to the second article “why are men attracted to women who wear makeup”. The author indicates that men are more attracted to women who have more contrast in their faces. For example, men, the author states that men are more attracted to women with red lips, against dark hair and prefer pale skin. I do not know if I can fully agree with this statement because not all men are attracted to women with red lips or darker hair but everybody is also different.

Jawanjal, Krutikaa. "Do Women Have Fun Putting on Makeup?" Quora. N.p., 24 Sept. 2013. Web. 01 Mar. 2017.

A lot of women like to wear makeup just for fun. In this source, the author states reason why women wear makeup for fun. I agree that this source is reliable because it gives you all the information that you need to understand why women wear makeup for fun. The author states that makeup is pretty much treating your face like a sheet of paper and working art on it. Although some might not agree with this statement, I completely agree that your face is like a sheet of paper and your working art on it. Makeup is so much fun and it’s a beautiful art. When I was younger all I would do is put a bunch of pretty colors on my eyes but now I will use more of nude colors. The author indicates that applying concealer to your face is like working with colored pastels you need the right shade. We are modern art if the lipsticks, eye shadow and blush are all in different colors. In addition, the author states that mascara is a whole new story its brisk paintings it will always look good. I can agree with this author because to me mascara is life I love it and it can really bring out a person’s eyes. Women love to wear makeup but it is a work of art and it’s fun to play with. There are tons of makeup tutorials out there in forms of books, videos and blogs. Educate yourself to makeup it’s a great hobby. Makeup is an art therapy and I can agree with that one. All the packages and soft brushes, aren’t you glad makeup is part of your life. Whether we play dramatic or neutral, makeup is a great medium for expressing our personalities. It is a space for creativity. Not only you look good but you feel wonderful too.

S, Amrita. "How Makeup Can Improve Your Self Esteem." Indian Makeup Beauty and Fashion Blog RSS. N.p., 1 Sept. 2012. Web. 03 Mar. 2017.

Many women wear makeup to boost confidence. Some women feel insecure and they like to wear makeup to boost confidence. Our negative self-perceptions are usually caused by what others say about us. Self-image is the commonest area of low self-esteem. Makeup is not a mask to hide behind, nor it’s something that only the “ beautiful” should do. This article is a reliable source because it contains a lot of different information as to why women wear makeup to boost their confidence. In the discussions of the authors article, she argues that makeup boosts a women’s confidence. Makeup doesn’t hide your flaws, it makes you remember they aren’t flaws. The author also indicates that “if you are somebody who doesn’t wear makeup and suddenly you go and try it, then go ahead! Do it, good luck! Not only are you allowed to put makeup on in the comfort of your own bedroom, you are allowed to flaunt it outside. Pull out your mascara or lipstick for touch ups. People will comment once or twice as long as they like but , why should you care? If they have a problem with you wearing it, it’s their problem not yours. You wear that makeup because you love it! “I completely strongly agree with the author because makeup really does boost up a women’s confidence it makes them feel better about themselves. I can agree with the author because you shouldn’t let another woman breathing the same air as you put you down you wear that makeup girl and you flaunt it.
