While Dexter was working one day during the spring, he comes across a beautiful young lady by the name of Judy Jones and her nurse. She wanted Dexter to be her caddy but he couldn't leave his post until his boss arrived. When she didn't get her way, she threw a temper tantrum and attempts to hit her nurse with her clubs. When Dexter is free to be Judy's caddy, he quits because he wants to earn more money. Dexter would eventually go to a prestigious university where he would stretch his money to make it work. But once he graduated, Dexter would borrow $1000 to buy a laundry. His laundry would eventually become the largest in the Midwest but he would sell it and move to New York. He would be invited to play a round of golf at the course he formerly was a caddy at with some of the most recognized members of the club. While he is playing with the group, one of the other members is struck in the stomach by Judy's ball and once she has played through, they begin to both praise and criticize her. Dexter later was laying on a springboard on a lake listening to a piano play when Judy comes by on a boat asking him to drive it while she skis. They would eventually go on a date the next evening but it would not go as Dexter planned it. Judy begins to cry to Dexter about how her ex-boyfriend that she broke up with after he explained to her that he was poor. Another thing that didn't go well with Judy was that during a picnic with Dexter, she leaves with another man and claims that nothing happened between them which Dexter doesn't believe. Even though all of this has happened, Dexter still seeks out Judy but they grow closer and closer apart when Dexter throws himself into his work and meets his future wife, Irene. Before they announced the engagement, he finds Judy out in public and she begins to flirt with him. She plays with his feelings to the point where he forgets about Irene and gets back with Judy. That eventually doesn't work out and he is called upon to enter the war. During the war, he finds out Judy marries a man who cheats on her constantly and leaves her home alone with their children. He also hears that she has lost her looks and Dexter begins to cry while he reminisces on his past with Judy.
