Why is Public Speaking SO Scary?

Your heart is racing, you're sweating, and you are breathing fast, taking short quick breaths. Are you trapped in a cage with a vicious man - eating lion? No. It's worse than that. You're standing in front of a fairly large crowd getting ready to recite your public speaking speech and you suddenly start to panic. Relax.

Everybody gets nervous in front of an audience and it doesn't matter if it's a speech that could change the world like Neil Armstrong's few words "One small step for man, one giant leap for man kind" or just a few words to start or end a meeting. Almost everybody finds public speaking terrifying.

So why is public speaking SO scary?

1. A catastrophe might happen. For example, I could forget my words, I could panic and go red and I'll faint and be taken to the hospital and everyone will think I'm crazy and confused and ......etc etc etc

2. Somebody might use humor. For example, it will be just like that time I got that joke wrong and everybody laughed at me instead of the joke.

3. The people will judge me. For example, everybody will be looking for my mistakes and think of how I could have done better.

And finally number four.

4. I could think that if my speech isn't completely perfect, then it's a complete failure. I'm either a good public speaker or a horrible public speaker.

No need to worry about any of these things though because "Not to fear, I'm here" and I can help YOU

Get over your fears of public speaking!

First there's one thing and only one thing that you'll need (well besides a speech) and that's courage. Without the guts to get up in front of your class or a crowd of people your probley not going to get very far.

But you have to try and if you believe in yourself you can do anything, even public speaking.

Then practice your speech in front of your family or a mirror and get used to the idea of people watching and listening to you. Once
