Why America Should Buy American

The United States has been through its fair share of ups and downs in the

Twenty-first century. America had its worst economic decade since the 1930's starting in 2000. During the 2000's America's Average Gross Domestic Product rose at 1.9% per year meanwhile the previous six decades the Average Gross domestic Product rose at 3.9% per year. America got itself during the 2000's in a huge hole when buying foreign made products. As of this September, the United States had an international trade deficit of forty-three billion dollars. More than eighty percent of America's imports are goods. The rest of America's imports are spent on services. Since The United States imports so many goods and services, jobs are lost within the country and unemployment rises. If The United States simply did not import as much and exported more, the country would prosper and it would benefit the economy in an abundant amount of ways. Buying American-made products has so many benefits as overseas production is very corrupt and America needs to stop supporting such terrible ways when buying foreign made products.

Foreign-made products are made with terrible labor habits. Many foreign countries allow unsafe working conditions. When buying American goods, not only do citizens support American manufacturers but also they aid American workers, safe working conditions, and child labor laws. Nonetheless, overseas companies do not have a minimum wage and workers receive a very low wage on top of bad working conditions. Most products made internationally also have very low safety standards. This means that products contain poisonous levels such as lead that could be found in toys. This shows that America is taking the easy way out and buying harmful products just because it is a more efficient way. Purchasing from these corporations who work with deindustrialization just adds to the problems of Americans losing jobs, a stingy economy, and consequences for the United States in the long run.

Many consumers are always looking for the cheaper product. The cheaper products almost one hundred percent of the time are from overseas. The consequence about cheaper products is that they do not contain a lot of quality and can be harmful to his or her health. Even though the United States product may be more expensive, there are a thousand more benefits with buying that product especially since you are guaranteed with superb quality. Buying these quality goods without doubt help secure future businesses within the United States as well. If America is ever in times of conflict with another country and some sort of trade is cut off, citizens would not have to worry and the economy would not suffer.

The United States manufacturers processes are so much cleaner and safer than the environment than any other place in the world. Keeping the Earth clean and safe is great for the young people who will be on Earth for a long time. Buying from these safe conditions foster American independence and this stimulates America as a whole politically and economically. When Citizens within America buy American made products, the demand for the products will increase. When demand increases, more factories and companies will be developed.
