Ellison most likely is scoring high in self- awareness. He recognize his emotions and his effects on others, accurately assess his own strengths and limitations, and have a strong sense of his self-worth and capabilities.

Ellison is someone who is likely to score low, in social awareness. He is not taking an active interest in other's concerns, nor empathizing with them, nor recognize the needs of others have at work. He is famous for firing individuals because he doesn't like them. He "runs a tight ship" that rewards employees who produce and squeezes out those who don't measure up to his standards. (Hellriegel & Slocum, 2011, p. 100)

Ellison is most likely to score high, even maximum, on the high self-motivation EQ. He is results oriented and pursuing goals beyond what is required. His boat, named the Sayonara, ran into a hurricane, and nearly sank, but Ellison was able to win the Sydney-to-Hobart race by his sheer persistence and determination to win at all costs.

However, in terms of social skills EQ, Ellison might appear to have low social skills towards his competitors, he probably ignore others' developmental needs. He may have behaved harshly towards who he deemed as adversaries, as with most people would react in the same fashion. For his rivals, he may be difficult to be around, giving him a low level of social skills. Ellison seeks the company of others is not necessarily for companionship. As a tech mogul, Ellison cannot be shy nor withdrawn. He builds very effective interpersonal business relationships, and is able to work well with others to achieve shared goals. Aside from being a tech mogul, Mr. Ellison is not a dull person, he is assertive, outspoken, sociable, and his interpersonal relationships are strongly business motivated. He values relationship with others and the balance between self-exploration and building relationships with others (Larry Ellison Interview - Academy of Achievement, 1997).

Ellison's social skills EQ, social ability and managerial skills must be exceptionally high, and that made him a very successful businessman.
