Collection of Quotes

1. "You must pursue this investigation of Watergate even if it leads to the president. I'm innocent. You've got to believe I'm innocent. If you don't, take my job."

-Richard M. Nixon

Nixon urged the pursuit of the investigation and suggested that if his job is not taken he must be innocent. Obviously he was guilty if he would rather resign then be impeached. If he was as innocent as he said he wouldn't be afraid to stand and finish an impeachment trial and still hold his job.

3. "An attempt is already underway to revise history - to leave the impression that the former president had nothing to do with Watergate. But there is no doubt about his obstruction of justice after the Watergate break-in."

-John J. Sirica

Sirica describes how there are many attempts to fix history and hide the fact that our president was involved in a major scandal. But, he is positive that this is not possible and that there is no way to revamp Nixon for the break-in. He has defied the country with his obstruction of justice.

4. "The source known as Deep Throat provided a kind of road map through the scandal. His one consistent message was that the Watergate burglary was just the tip of the iceberg."

-Bob Woodward

Woodward gives insight to the discovery of the Watergate Conflictions. He reveals that his unknown source "Deep Throat" was a vital key in the uncovering of this scandal. Deep Throat left a constant reminder that the burglary was only a small portion of the big problem going on.
