Why My Four Audio Sites Are the GREATEST!!!

The four audio sites that I chose are not only entertaining and educational, they are also purtinant to our American history. The first audio site is a series of "Bushisms" which are rhetorical blunders that our current president has been infamous for reciting and cause democrats like me to fear for the country. This site, http://politicalhumor.about.com/library/blbushism-obgyn.htm, is quite interesting for many reasons. Of course we all are guilty of misusing a few words here and there. But wouldn't you think that our President, our commander in chief, our leader of the free world would at least know how to use proper syntax? Maybe he should practice his speeches a bit more. "Bush's misnomers and general cowboy qualities often send mixed signals to those 'on the fence.'" (1)

The second example is the audio of President Bill Clinton denying the sexual allegations that we had an affair with Monica Lewinsky. (http://www.historychannel.com/speeches/archive/speech_441.html) "On January 26, 1998, at the end of a televised event at the White House, President Bill Clinton passionately denied having had a sexual affair with Monica Lewinsky, a young intern who had worked at the White House."(2) Although I don't believe that a person's private affairs should necessarily be publicized, I was shocked to see how vehemently our trusted President insisted he was innocent when in fact, he lief to the American people and to a grand jury. I'm sure many Americans lost faith in a president that would lie even under oath.

Thirdly, this website focuses on the speeches of the WWI era and the origins of the war which are often shrouded in controversy. (http://www.firstworldwar.com/audio/) According to this source, "it explains why the assassination of Austrian Archduke Franz Ferdinand was by no means the sole cause of the conflict,"(3) meaning there were underlying issues that have been cast into the historical shadows. I feel like this site is one of the most important because it takes a closer look at a subject that our American textbooks dare not to.

Finally, the last audio site is a series of speeches by Vice President Dick Cheney. (http://www.commonwealthclub.org/archive/02/02-08cheney-audio.html)
