A True American

What makes an American, an American? Is it the way they dress or could it be the color of their skin or hair? An American is someone who strives for excellence and has the passion for a free nation. I believe to be an American is to have that feeling to believe in your country no matter the situation. I believe you're an American if you have the feeling that you are no matter you appearance or nationality, and also if you have the mindset that you can achieve anything.

Characteristics that I believe classify Americans as American are very diverse. It doesn't matter what color hair you have or the color of your skin. I believe that you can be an American if you were born here or if you were born in another nation. If you believe in the American way and have the passion to be an American and migrate here, I classify you as an American. They fought many wars over a simple thing such as freedom. They wanted to be able to raise their family in a free world and not a world that is filled with dictators always telling you what to do and what to think. I believe that you can be any race, sex, age, and ethnicity that you are and still be an American. Being an American is so great because you have the freedom that all humans should be privileged to have. People in other countries don't have the freedom that we have, and that's why I believe that all people who move here from other countries should have the chance to be called an American if they so choose. You are who you say you are and not what others classify you as. If you're a black female from Guatemala are you considered an American even if you moved there from Africa? Yes! Most definitely you are. If others say that your not, how do they know that their even Americans. I consider myself an American not only because I was born
