Job Training

There are 3 different types of job training. These include on the job training - which is training at the located work place, off the job training - which is more training than actually working and is located other than the official work place, lastly there is induction training - which is training you receive when joining a new company.

On the job training

The advantages of on the job training are:-

Ш Producing work for the company.

Ш It is much cheaper for the company than other training.

Ш For the employee work would be more comfortable when starting the job, as the employee would know the work place and staff.

The disadvantages of on the job training are:-

Ш Bad practice may be passed down from trainer to trainee.

Ш Mistakes made by the trainee may affect the company as it would lead to poor customer services.

Ш The company wouldn't have many experienced worker.

Ш Trainer may not be a good trainer as they might not be training for a long time.

Off the job training

The advantages of off the job training are:-

Ш Trainers are good at training as they do it as their job every day.

Ш No mistakes are made, which affect the business.

Ш The company wouldn't have inexperienced workers working for them.

Ш No bad practice is passed down as trainer would be professionals.

The disadvantages of off the job training are:-

Ш No work is produced for the company while training.

Ш It is more expensive for the company.

Ш New employees aren't familiar with the staff and workplace.

Off the job Training is for more experienced worker such as the manger or supervisors where the company is willing to pay expensive prices. On the job training is for less experienced workers as it is more cheaper for the company, but may affect the company in the long run as mistakes made by inexperienced workers may affect customer services and customers would feel they wouldn't be treated right or would be able to find certain product and would bother visiting the store.

Induction training

Induction training is another type of training. Induction training is for the newly appointed employees. This type is to help new employees to settle in quickly and feel comfortable. I t can last for one day or a month according to the type of company or business.

Induction training involves the employee to:-

Ш Be introduced to their working place.

Ш Observe other workers in working.

Ш To go over the health and safety aspects of the job.

Ш Have a look through the organization structure.

Ш See who they are responsible for and meet them.

Ш Take part in social activities, such as lunches which would help meeting and make employees much more comfortable with who they are working with.

The advantages of the induction training

Ш Making employees feel comfortable with their work place and their fellow staff.

Ш Help make employees settle I much quicker.

Ш Help the employees no what to do and where to do it as they have been observing other workers

The disadvantages of the induction training

Ш No work is being done for the company

Ш Other workers may have to take part in the induction programme, so they wouldn't do any work either.

Induction programme for the manger

9.00 - Health and safety - watch a video on these aspects and a test on them near the end.

10.45 - Talk through structure - who is the manger responsible for and who is responsible for the manger.

12.00 - Lunch with the staff

1.45 - Tour of the workplace

3.00 - Introduction to working area.

4.45 - Observe other worker in progress

6.00 - A taste of the job

7.45 - Meeting on how the worker felt and what improvement could be made of the induction process.
