I believe that drugs should NOT be legalised in sport. This is due to pretty much the same reason it isn't legal now.

The main reason that I believe that drugs should not be legalised is that: if drugs should start being legal in sport than what is stopping it from being legal in the world. I think that drugs should not be used at all. There will be no stopping people from using sport as they will just say that they play one sport or another.

Furthermore, everybody knows that drugs are harmful things. They make you addicted to them and then slowly erode your body of its health. So it might be true that the usage of sport may improve the quality of sport and bring competition to a higher level, the usage of drugs for this will cut short the sport's life of many sportsmen. Besides, competition at its current level is already high. This will remain high for a longer time as there will be no drugs to harm the athletes.

Another reason drugs should not be used is the morality behind it. Should drugs be made legal in sport, sport will no longer be based on individual talents but, it will sadly be based on, who is using more drugs, and what type of drugs they are using. Sport will no longer be the fair game that we know now.

There are however, some reasons why the usage of drugs may appeal to some people and especially the athletes. Most athletes see sport as a way in which they can improve themselves beyond the normal level and other athletes. The usage of drugs by athletes will improve the level of competition drastically. The drugs will boost the performance level of all athletes to an almost abnormal level. For example, in track events, new records will be made. In tennis for example, the game play will be much more exciting due to the increase speed and power the players will be able to do. This will bring up the excitement level of sport. New level of sport will attract more attention and so, the sporting economy will be given a new boost, which then leads to better equipment and playing area.

I think that in conclusion, drugs should NOT be legalised in sport. If not for reasons such as the drugs being bad for you than just for moral reason. In class we are taught to avoid drugs at any cost. I don't see how the drugs being used in sport should be any different.
