Today's Society Case

Often times in the generation today we forget what is really important to prove to today's society that we are more than what we appear to be or will be. We are represented by the ignorance of only wanting material things and basing our lives off of what famous people have. We don't focus on what's important and we don't live to our full potentials. One main thing that has made some "famous" people who they are today is pornography. What used to be something no one could imagine doing even if there life depended on it shortly became the norm in the day in age? People like Mimi Faust, Kim Kardashian and Farah Abraham our women who had all the potential in the world but decided to subject themselves to the world of exploiting. However, these girls wouldn't have gotten that far if it wasn't for one thing. What is that one thing you ask? What got them to where they are now? How are they so successful? How do they make a living off of such thing as pornography? SUPPORTERS. Many men and women are supporting not just these women but others who are taking this alternate route. Many men and women who couldn't even fathom the idea of them doing it themselves. Many men and women who could see their daughters or sons doing that. However, they support this. They give these people the idea that this probably isn't that bad and isn't that shameful now. In all actuality this can't and shouldn't be accepted. What about this little girls and boys who aspire to be firemen, doctors, dentist , reporters , teachers or even lawyers ? Do we want to be responsible for letting them know that if their dreams don't work out the way they want to that they can just subject themselves to pornography? No we don't want that on our conscious. With one click that can prevent that. Too many people in this generation have lost sight of the dream and what goal has to be accomplished. So to allow internet access for pornography to be viewed on campus like in libraries and offices is completely absurd. School is for your education and anything else as far as that should be done at some other time. As an HBCU we are already looked at as a school that cannot be taken seriously. What people realize is that there is someone or some people out there waiting for us to slip up or do something ridiculous just so we can look bad. Florida A&M University allows access to porn in campus facilities. Can you imagine that headline on the newspaper and TV? If porn is allowed on campus it would not only take away from what FAMU is actually about but will get the students off track of what they are supposed to be doing. I do not think that pornography should be accessed on campus at all because the effects on that would have the school paying a big price that is not needed.

The importance of education cannot be stressed enough. It is something that is very limited in this world and should be taken advantage of at its best. Yes sure, it's ok to take a breaks and things like that but it must be taken seriously. In these times we have so much technology to help us with education that there is no reasons to not be able to find some information that you're looking for.
