I. Purpose: To monitor the progress of a department and make changes when necessary for the benefit of the organization

II. Control Mechanisms used for effectiveness

A. Acorn Paper- Budget control is a mechanism that is used at Acorn paper. This is necessary to service our customers better. Some of the ways that Acorn Paper uses this control to its benefit is by watching the inventory levels, placing rules for employees so that customer's orders are not lost, and doing their best to avoid errors by only allowing only the buyer of that product line to handle adjustments.

B. Arcadian Management Services-

At Arcadian Management Services there is heavy Bureaucratic control. The use of reports and policy and procedures is a well sure process in my company to track the progress of the projects. Bureaucratic control is placed 1st above the happiness of the employees.

C. Inland Technologies-

At Inland Technologies control mechanisms are in place so that management may monitor the progress and make necessary changes. One of the controls that are utilized at Inland Technologies is Clan control. The advantage to this togetherness is that the team shares the "Clan Control" mentality. The direction the company is headed in, and how this will be done is felt by the management team. Since most of the management team has been around each other for such a long time, each member has had a hand in getting the company to be the success that it is today.

D. Kaiser Permanente- The control mechanism that is set for Kaiser Permanente is bureaucratic. Performance standards are set so that employees can meet them. Employees have to make sure that their wait and call times are within the region standards and that unnecessary time is not wasted which can be used to help other members making appointments. The job that management must do is to monitor these standards that are set for the department. They must also make any changes that are necessary. Making sure that are members are taken care to the best of our ability is first priority when it comes to Kaiser Permanente.

E. Western States Distribution- Clan Control is a control mechanism that is used for the Western States Distribution company. Western is a company that tries to establish a feeling of "togetherness" and create a family environment for their employees. Individuals must take responsibility for their own actions. Managers try to trust their employees to make the best decision for the company.
