Rights and Freedoms

When the constitution was written, our founding fathers thought that the protections transcribed within it would defend our rights as Americans, although the founding fathers had our best interests at heart, the state of Virginia did not see it this way and wanted to reject it. Patrick Henry held a demonstration in opposition of the absence of some particular privileges. Additional United States citizens from various states insisted that the Bill of rights be inserted into the constitution. The states began to approve the constitution as long as these rights were added. When the bill of rights became a part of the constitution permanently all the states approved it.

The bill of rights was created to give Americans rights and freedoms and to defend persons from being mistreated by the constitution. The bill of rights defends the constitution from being mistreated by the citizens. The bill of rights was envisioned to give the regular people of America assurance that their administration would still be there to defend them and have their best interest at heart. When discussing the bill of rights I really did not know anything about them until I began researching them and I learned a lot about them and then, I was asked which freedom guaranteed to me in the First Amendment to the Constitution was most relevant to me? I believe that all my rights and freedoms are equal to me. If I had to choose one of my freedoms I would choose the freedom of speech.

The freedom of speech gives Americans the right to voice their opinion about their government without being arrested. In some countries the people are not allowed to voice their concerns and they are imprisoned, but there is a catch 22 if you speak your mind about someone and they do not care for you can be taken to court and possibly be sued for slandering that person. I am saying this because all rights have a catch 22 they are not perfect rights but you do have them and can exercise them to a certain extent without being imprisoned and..

The Significance of the bill of rights and subsequent notable amendments to U.S. democracy

The importance of the bill of rights and notable amendments was that it assured privileges for the persons which made it effortlessly excluded. The bill of rights was the start off of the revisions to the constitution which probably caused some of the additional amendments to be enhanced. The amendments to me are not truly being exercised as they were intended. The 1st amendment assures our rights to speech, religion assembly, press and petition. We have to remember we were given these rights but to a certain extent you have to censor what you say or there will be penalties. Each one of the bill of rights have penalties to them. Our founding fathers did have our best interests at heart it is that as the constitution became a living document everything has been changed.

If we the people really sit down and think our founding, fathers most important reason why these bill of rights and amendments came into being is the focus on our freedom. That
