Quebec Confederation

Quebec should join the confederation. Quebec needs to join together with other colonies to make the country stronger. If we join together, our economy, our military and our government will be stronger.

The government of Quebec is unstable. The province of Canada is changing governments very often, so it is difficult to make important decisions. Also, Great Britain will not help us to govern our country. This means that we have to govern our country by ourselves. If we join together, we will get our own provincial government to make important decisions and we will govern the country easily.

Quebec absolutely needs a railway. QuebecÐ'ÐŽÐ'Їs rail network is underdeveloped, because of weathers and it costs lots of money. Canadian debt reaches $50 million. The confederation will help us to pay it, and continue to construct a railway. In winter, the river is frozen, so we can not use canals or ships. Number of roads between cities and towns are too small. Railway will be a good transportation to us.

Trading with US is good chance to us. The Reciprocity Treaty with US is that trade without paying tariffs. Even if it ends later, we realize that our country is developed a lot. According to this experience, we are sure of that the confederation would make our economy stronger.

British change their attitudes. Great Britain is no more interested in the Province of Canada. It is too expensive to defend the colony to Britain. After the American Civil War, they worry about the victorsÐ'ÐŽÐ'Ї reaction, because they support the opposite side. They decide to not defend our country as a plan for it. If we join together, our defense will be stronger.

Recently, people vote for this problem. As a result, .The final issue is now certain. The confederation will be benefits to us. If we join together, a new government system will be made, our transportation will be more convenient, our economy and our military will be strong, and we will have no tariffs in trade between the other colonies.
