President Obama’s Final State of the Union Speech 2016
Accomplishments:
-Nearly eighteen million Americans have gained health coverage: the businesses opened that provided care have created jobs each months and health care inflation has slowed. The new healthcare system provides Americans ways to still stay covered even if they aren't employed.
-Iran can no longer obtain a nuclear weapon: Obama stated that another world war was prevented by shutting down Iran’s nuclear weaponry.
-The unemployment rate has gone from 10% to 5%: This is a significant change in unemployment rate. The lower it is, the better our economy can get.
-American manufacturers have created almost 900,000 new jobs over the past seven years: When Obama originally came into office, the amount of jobs in America were extremely low therefore creating a very weak economy. It is a vast improvement that 900,000 jobs have been created to help improve America’s economy and to help the impoverished seek work.
-Gasoline under two dollars: Since America cut foreign oil purchases by 60%, it has made out fuel prices go down since we have been getting our own oil here in America, therefore making the previously outrageous gas prices go down to reasonable price.
Proposals:
-Create equal pay for women; as it is lower than men for the same jobs: It is 2016 and women still make 79 cents for every dollar that a man makes.
-Find a cure for cancer: scientists have recently given more resources for research that are the strongest that they've been in a decade to eradicate cancer that is effecting so many Americans. Obama has put Joe Biden in charge of it.
-Build a 21st century transportation system: This will create jobs, save money, and protect the planet.
-authorize the use of military force against ISIL: Obama’s opinion is that if the Americans want to win the war with ISIL, we need to take stronger actions and actually use our military to fight them rather than keeping it as peaceful as it has been lately.
-Make it easier for Americans to vote: We need all of the people in our country to take voting seriously and to all participate and a modernization process is needed
