Philosophy of Science: Evolution and Creation

When talking about evolution and creation theories, there are people on both sides of the spectrum that will go crazy for or against one side. Ever since the theory of evolution was created, there have been arguments for or against it. In this paper, I will try to define both evolution and creation theories, and explain my stand on them towards the end.

The first theory that was thought to be correct was creation. The theory of creation is the belief that the divine act by which, according to carious religious and philosophical traditions, the world was brought into existence. Believers of the creation theory believe that the universe that we live in and understand was created by a higher power, and by nothing else. They believe that within a certain time period a higher power came and created earth, the stars, the animals, and everything else that we can imagine. In this theory there are many different ways that the believe think that this happened due to different religious beliefs, but in the end they all believe that a higher power started everything as we know it today.

The second theory is evolution. The theory of evolution is the process by which species of organisms arise from earlier life forms and undergo change over time though natural selection. The modern understanding of the origins of species is based on the theories of Charles Darwin combined with a modern knowledge of genetics based on the

work of Gregor Mendel. People who believe in this theory believe that the world or universe was not created by a higher power, but is a result of an explosion of a star, and the delicate development of cells over time.

With both of these theories defined, I believe that both are correct in there own way. Starting with evolution, I believe that every living thing on the planet does evolve from what they were years before to suit their living conditions they have in the present. When I stop believe in evolution is when the idea that life “just started with a bang”. I believe that if the bang did happen, where did it come from? What is the real beginning of all? Since I have these questions, I believe in creationism, that some higher power started the universe, but since is started evolutionism has been happening ever since.
