One of the Greatest Champion of All Time

In every sport, there's a person who excels greatly. For boxing

Muhammad Ali, for hockey, Wayne Gretzky, and for the UFC, Matt Hughes. Matts the longest reigning champion for his weight division ever in the UFC. The reasons because of his hardworking ethic for training, how he studies his opponents thoroughly, or its the respect he shows towards this sport. When Matt Hughes first started out, he had very little experience and seemed very green in the ring. He needed the guidance from his trainer, Pat Miletich, to become the Welterweight champion. His strong work ethic in training for a fight has also helped him. He basically sleeps, eats and trains when there's an upcoming fight. His life consists of the moto "to be the best you have to train like the best". His intelligence in reading up on his opponent early means he can train in specific areas. Which has lead him to the longest title holding in the UFC. If the person has better stand up fighting then him, he will train in Pat Miletich's camp against the best in the world to prepare an offence to beat his opponent at his own game. Matt did this against the most respected fighter in the UFC Royce Gracie. He knew that Gracie had phenomenal submission fighting, so Matt trained to defend himself and not get caught in that situation. Matt showed respect after the fight and shook Gracie's hand and said he was the pioneer of the sport. Matts the type of fighter who believes that you have to earn respect and once you have, it will be shown. As the UFC progresses later in the years, Matt Hughes will be remembered as the most dominant champion of his time or maybe even all-time.
