LTTE is a terrorist nationalistic organization that tries to take over a part of Sri Lanka and declare it an independent Tamil state. LTTE, most commonly known as the Tamil Tigers, rose a violent campaign over the Sri Lankan government and after the civilians from the 1970s. The Tamil Tigers are currently concerned as a terrorist organization by thirty two countries.

Tamils are a group of people who were moved from the Indian subcontinent to other countries by the British colonial authorities. As it was before they still mostly work on the tea plantations. There are 77 million Tamils all over the world; three million of them live in Sri Lanka, estimated. Their religion is mostly Hinduism, but they have people believe in Christianity, Islam and Jainism as well.

LTTE is “perhaps the most lethal, well organized and disciplined terrorist force in the world”

The creator of the Tamil Tigers organization, Velupillai Prabhakaran, founded it in the 1975 and gained many supporters, mainly by the Tamil youth, who were satisfied with all the policies that Prabhakaran introduced. The organization included men, women, and even some children joined it later, because after the signing of the Indian Peace Keeping Force (IPKF) there was a shortage of manpower because of increasing casualties and the escalation of the conflict later. From the time that the organization was founded, they began from the attacks on the local policeman to the severe terrorism acts all over Sri Lanka, including the assassination of the mayor of Jaffna. “A typical unit of children was trained for four months in the jungle. Woken at 0500hrs they assembled, fell in line, and their leader raised the LTTE flag. This was followed by two hours of physical training, after which the recruits engaged in weapons training, battle and field craft, and parade drill. During the rest of the afternoon, time was spent both reading LTTE literature and more physical training. Lectures on communications, explosives and intelligence techniques continued into the evening. No contact was permitted between the camp and the children's homes during the training period. Sleep and food were regulated during training to build endurance.” (http://www.satp.org/satporgtp/countries/shrilanka/terroristoutfits/LTTE.htm)

There have even been established a group called the “Black Tigers”, who were responsible of doing all the suicide attacks against the political, economic and military targets. Tamil Tigers not only established the “Black Tigers” group, but they also established few groups that had their specific task to do, like they established groups called: “Sea Tigers” and “Air Tigers”, one of them as you might see is responsible for the attacks on the navy (all the ships) and the other one is a group that has its won lightweight aircraft responsible to take off any planes they would need to. The activists of this organization as well have a cyanide capsule, which they should drink if they are caught by any enemy they consider.

LTTE consists out of 7,000 to 18,000 approximately. Whenever you get to this organization you will be trained for four months in order to be a universal soldier. “All LTTE fighters undergo a programme of rigorous training. A typical training schedule is spread over four months, during which they receive training in handling weapons, battle and field craft, communications, explosives and intelligence gathering, as well as an exhausting physical regimen and rigorous indoctrination.” (http://www.satp.org/satporgtp/countries/shrilanka/terroristoutfits/LTTE.htm)
