Personal space, body language, and overall interaction between the participants in the gym was something that I hadn't paid enough attention to in the past, from the distance I could see that their interests. The intimate couples that I noticed in the gym seemed again sought to have created a private space for them by erecting invisible barriers through their private body language directed only at each other, resulting in considerable more space between these couples and other groups of people in the gym. It was a clear and present body language of please do not bother us attitude left a sense of diffused power that would be involved power relationships that operate without covert commands and requests. The dynamics of the couple was something that was very obvious, in that I was able to note the dominant and the submissive person. The person who had a tendency to meet the needs and the one who had the ability to be demanding.

Gender roles, specifically within the intimate couple, were clearly observed and noted, the couple gave a snap shot by their behavior into how they functioned as a couple. When the female in the intimate relationship left for the restroom the guy in situation-spent time, cleaning and wiping down the equipment before she returned. He spent time making sure that the machine that she would be returning too was in adequate and working condition before her arrival. His role as the protector to her was clearly established in that his role was such that, to make sure she was fine overall. It is a strange sensation to watch two people who are clearly attracted to each other dance away at, the new T. I song as they work out together. I was left with the question of how they worked together when they were not on the staging ground for a exercise routine.

I had a chance to experience Bally's Total Fitness which is a full service health club offering a wide range of many different amenities, after experiencing the gym system at my university and that of another, to realize that they offer much, that is along the same line of my own school. To understand what, is the difference between the two gyms that I have so far visited, I went to look at, Bally's which is a gym that is open to attracting males and females ages 18-40. It is a group that best resembles the general population. I went with, James my significant other because his sister, Samantha had given him a free membership for his up coming birthday. To see this as the girlfriend and as the budding sociologist was an adventure.

What many people do not realize is Bally's Sports clubs is only apart of the company, as with my university gym, it is a apart of a system. Along with fitness centers, they also have their own products; again, the similarities are the same. On the car ride over, I was asked to read the membership documents by a very excited James, to discover that Bally's mission statement is "to be your total fitness resources by providing quality service and outstanding faculties to help you achieve results YOUR way". What I noticed is that the facilities do the part of staying close to the company logo of staying near having a gym experience of "YOUR way", as I walked through with, Jim, I noticed that people do join for different reason's, my excuse for being dragged to this was wanting to shape up for formal.

In reading through the material, I noticed that, not only do they have the gym itself but also they offer many different types of classes, meal plans, and exercise programs. Which from a business point allows a person to come in at a beginning, advanced, and expert, level. What I noticed is that they have people begin at different levels and than progress as the body gets conditioned, generally they ask people to take two weeks on classes at beginning level then three more weeks at advanced, then to go to expert. The thing that I saw that struck me was that, unlike my gym and that of Jim's people who worked out here were more focused. They are attempting to fulfill a business plan of attracting, sorts that can pay for a higher quality of service.

These are the people who are accomplished a business types that have come to work off the stress of the day. When I wondered around with my hyperactive active boyfriend, I noticed that there was an assortment of blackberry's and IPOD phones. People here who had come to work out were those who have major deadlines to meet and otherwise are the people who determine the success and failure of the business world. However, it was odd, the couple dynamics that I noticed in my own gym still applies here because I entered as a couple and, when Jim and I sat to snack as before we wanted to be alone while the world progressed around us.

To see this gym through Jim's eyes was to see the significant of attending a gym environment that was in the adult world, which was a bit more focused. The smell of the gym was a powder fresh breeze scent, which I noticed the moment I entered the area, this was in comparison to the gym dirty sock smell of my home area. It has the intent when first walking into the area to appeal to a higher class of people; people are paying for the service and expect a better and or higher level comment. The thing that I noticed that all around that there were people cleaning regularly, hygiene was taken seriously. Where the area that I was used to I had a fellow student tell me, how they came to get athletes foot in her ear after using one
