Security Directives and Regulations Ð'- Knowledge of TSA's air transportation security policies, directives, and regulations, including on-going regulations and new or emerging directives, as well as understanding of how to implement the policies, directives and regulations in local TSA airport operations.

Earning an undergraduate degree in aviation administration has given me a firm foundation of the aviation industry necessary in all air transportation security policies, directives and regulations to include TSA's. Many Transportation Security Regulations are former rules of the Federal Aviation Administration that were transferred to TSA when TSA assumed FAA's civil aviation security function on February 17, 2002. Courses in Airline Administration, Airport Administration and Finance, Aviation Legislation, Introduction to Aviation along with many other courses helped me solidify my knowledge of aviation security policies, directives, and regulations as they apply in real world of the aviation industry. These courses have also stressed the importance of knowing the ever changing industry and to keep updated on all new and on-going regulations, to be pro-active and not re-active. As a result of knowing the importance of continuous knowledge I became a member of American Association of Airport Executives in January of 2005 and receive daily emails of changes in the aviation industry.

My current position as a Program Analyst Assistant and as a Transportation Security Officer requires me to keep an up to date knowledge of TSA security policies, directives, and regulations, including on-going regulations and new or emerging directives, as well as understanding of how to implement the policies, directives and regulations in local TSA airport operations. The Federal Security Director or any of the AFSDs at Detroit Metro Airport would inform me and the other program analyst assistants of changes in TSA's policies and procedures. With the information we receive we would have to relay it to the appropriate personnel on a need to know bases. To implement the new policies and procedures the information would be well written in a daily report that goes out to all screening managers and executive level personnel of TSA at Detroit Metro Airport.
