At the beginning of the Renaissance to the early eighteen hundreds fundamental changes in religious and political outlook took place as leafing thinkers' begin to emphasize the rights of individuals. The Renaissance was a great cultural and intellectual activity that spread throughout Europe. The most significant intellectual movement was the humanism, which stressed the importance of human beings and the place in the universe. Some humanist questioned certain traditional ideas about women, and favored better education and more responsible role for women. Also, the Civil War brought a new generation of women reformers with a new frame of mind about being in the work force. The war brought on new opportunities for the women as well as responsibilities. The road to equality for women has been an easier said than done. They had to fight their way through legislatures and congressional obstacles, face racism, and indifference without the resources of money and political power. Only through determination and perseverance did the make impressive achievements. Although women were discriminated against they continued to struggle, work, and take on difficult roles. As women took on more responsibilities they discovered that they begin to look at their roles and status and wanted change. Women in the United States around the world have organized political movements in order to obtain the same social, economic, and political rights that men enjoyed for many years. Economic transformation lead changed women lives and lifestyles in a major way. Women's prosperity in the economic transformation in the early nineteenth century gradually played a major role in development of jobs for women, education for women, their family life, and an enormous role to the road to equal rights.

Since the beginning of American History, women had only limited rights. The thread of women's influence stands out in the unraveling of all recorded history. Women have exerted greater and more influence on the course of history than any so called great men of the ages. Women were the vital factors in all the great movements of mankind. Organized efforts by women to achieve greater .rights occurred in major ways. Their was the Women's Suffrage. The women's suffrage movement lasted at least 70 years, from the first formal women's convention in 1848 in Seneca Falls, New York, to the passage of the 19th amendment. English women won full voting
