St. Ignatius of Loyola

My name is Saint Ignatius of Loyola, and I was born in 1941. I was born in Northern Spain, more specifically Azpeitia in the Basque province of Guipuzcoa.

I have twelve brothers and sisters, all of which are older than me. I have a gambling problem, and I enjoy swordplay and dress in mail and wear breastplates. I continued along this lifestyle until I was thirty, at which time I experienced a conversion.

In a battle against the French, a cannon ball struck my leg. I was carried home by the French, to recuperate in my home, the castle of Loyola. I became very bored, and needed something to read. I came across the books of Christ and the saints, and reading them was a life changing experience.

I was eager to study to become a priest, but first needed the proper Latin language skills. I was now thirty-three, and had to study Latin at a school in Barcelona with young boys. He got in trouble for pulling children aside from class and telling them the greatness of the Gospel. He continued to do this, with adults as well, and these incidents got him thrown into jail for forty-two days.

After those forty-two days were over, I was told that I should not teach anyone. I found it very difficult to live my life without helping others, I moved to the University of Salamanca. I was thrown into prison by the Dominicans again. Following this event, I headed for Paris. Here I took many interesting courses, Theology among them. I also made two new friends, Francis Xavier and Peter Faber.

It has been said by other people that perhaps one of the best things I have done in my time among the living, was one of the mysterious events that occurred while I was traveling with Francis Xavier and Peter Faber. We had decided to go Rome, to visit the pope, and on the way there I was visited by God the Father. He informed me that He would be favorable to me in Rome, and that his son Jesus would be with me. I was not sure whether this would be good or bad, because, Jesus endured pain, but also achieved success.

I did many other amazing things in my time among the living, many of them opening schools to educate young minds. I opened schools in Portugal, Italy, Spain, The Netherlands, and many other places. Although these schools were made with recently recruited Jesuits in mind, later a request was made, that caused me to send five men to open up a school for lay people.

I
