The Hope of CDC

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is known as a government based agency that is committed to the American population from various mental and behavioral matters. According to the CDC (2015), Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is “one of the most common neurodevelopmental disorders of childhood.” From their website, it’s identified that ADHD is a mental health matter.  Also, contributing analysis of the symptoms, diagnostic, and treatment. The CDC's website also provides informative statistics and additional services of resources. The website is generated to provide parents knowledge that there is assistance available and many resources for them. This website is a good strategy to provide much impartial data and information from experts who have researched ADHD symptoms. However, there are some related sources at the end of the research, which includes parenting and child development resources. Furthermore, it can become more useful to a parent of a child who is diagnosed with ADHD.

There is a designated section for health care professionals, upcoming conferences and resourceful events. The CDC presents this website in an attempt to be very broad and resourceful for data on ADHD using logos to petition to an individual logic, ethos to appeal to one’s emotions, and pathos to appeal to one’s sense of authority.

According to Li and Zhang (2014), logos are the most honest of the three appeals. The CDC heavily uses logos, or logic, on their website by providing statistical data and directly referring to their information as “facts.” There is also an abundance of research that is being conducted by the CDC’s National Center on Birth Defects and Developmental Disabilities (NCBDDD). This research is identified as the reader may find that it exist because of the conditions. However, they make the research much complex to access for those who are not as knowledgeable with the resources from the websites. By using pathos, the CDC penetrates on emotions of the reader by using acronyms and terminology such as mental disorder and developmental disability. Many parents becoming knowledgable could become quite discouraged of the reality that their child has an emotional or mental disability. The CDC also presents real scenarios from families who have encountered   emotional disorders from their children with these symptoms and conditions. The pathos is revealed in both composed and photographic ways. The following photos were identified with children demonstrating verbal and physical aggressions. The children are inspired with such feelings of faith and love.

However, children will become much happy and healthy while coping with ADHD symptoms. The children in the images who that demonstrate non-compliant behaviors are meant to give a feeling of behavioral deficiencies. Furthermore, the photos of expected mothers involved with pregnancy will become affected readers concerning about the potential symptoms of their unborn child. Even though, such parents deal with their children differently than other parents who are dealing with ADHD challenges and conditions.

The CDC presents with ethos. The CDC is a well- established government agency. Therefore, anyone who inquires any information can scroll down to the bottom of the page and review various affiliations with the United States Department of Health & Human Services and that it’s also directly connected to the U.S. government. However, the government is the primarily position with authority, it must be right. In addition to, there’s much uncertainty regarding parents and professionals who believe that the government is planning to control the minds of their children with prescribing MEDs instead of intensive counseling services. In their cases, the ethos used on the CDC website is not to become most arguable. However, parents and other individuals would likely doubt things said by the CDC as they would analyze to think that they are working towards their own best interest and to pursue the interest of politicians by using deceptive persuasion.
