Phones are really expensive these days. The amount of money we pay for a smartphone is insane. For what it’s worth it has everything we need to get through our lives in this society, internet, apps, games, bluetooth, music, etc. And those who are less fortinet and only have enough for one phone or just got one for the first time don’t want to break it. In the eyes of the rich dropping their phone or having it ran over is not a problem to them, where in the eyes of the less fortinet who make minimum wage dropping or having their phone ran over is a huge problem to them. What is not discussed is whether they have a phone case on their phone or not, and if they do have one then is it protecting the screen or not or if it’s a cheap phone case that doesn’t protect the screen. I am part of those people who can’t keep affording to get a new phone and are tired of this problem of not being able to buy or even get those phone cases that protect your phone.

I plan on creating a phone case that can withstand being ran over multiple times and is affordable for those who can’t afford those high end phone cases. The reason for building this is because just two weeks ago my phone got ran over by a car on Big Bend and Kirkwood road. Surprisingly it still worked because I was able to use the life360 tracker that I have on it to locate it. When i found it, it was well damaged beyond repair. Having to spend 150 on a new phone put a big hole in my pocket and want to find a solution to keep this from happening in the future.

Steps that i plan on taking to achieve my goal is to first do some research first on what types of phone cases that are already out there and then test out different kinds of materials to find out which one is the strongest along with the least expensive. From there i’ll start sketching out designs, then draw the designs on CAD, which is a computer design software that allows you to draw anything you want. I can then 3D print a prototype from plastic and make sure it fits the phone. My final plan is to send it to a machining shop and get the final product made and then run numerous test on it. I hope to seek out support from people who have had this problem in the past along with other inventors and phone companies. Problems that I will face is time, money, multiple fails and finding the right feedback need to help create a better product.
