Many teens are getting in accidents because they are not familiar with the challenges of driving. By the age of 19, young adults will understand the responsibilities of driving and develop faster reactions. Therefore, the driving age should not remain at 16, but should be raised to 19.

If teenagers were to drive at the young age of 16, they should learn to drive and think responsibly. A lot of teens tend to think driving is a simple thing and by following the rules everything will be okay. The problem is teens DON'T follow rules and end up making stupid mistakes like drinking while driving. 60% of all teen deaths in car accidents are alcohol-related. Then Accidents are marked with points on your driving records. Those are connected to insurance and teen's parents will end up paying the expensive price. As you know, insurance for teenagers cost a lot but have you counted everything else? Owning your own car costs more than just insurance and the vehicle. You need to pay for gas, repairs, accessories, and maintenance. Research shows that at Age 19, when young adults are familiar with the road and its obstacles, the insurance drops by 35%.

Even though those who want to leave the driving age at 16 say they would have more years of experience starting at a younger age. It is not true because they will be more prone to be in accidents that will become a strain on society. Many times the teenage car accidents will result in death or damages to the city. A couple of years ago, a teenage car crashed near a community college resulting in death. The teen lost control of the car late at night and had no way to stop it. This not only hurts the community but hurts people. When you are at age 19 you would have faster reactions to what is happening to your car.

In conclusion, there are countless number of problems and challenges along the ways of driving. By changing the legal driving age to 19, it helps teenagers drive safer and smarter. They show a sense of maturity and readiness to react to anything along the way. It will decrease the death rates and damages to the city from car crashes. This will not only help teens but help the world be a safer and better place.
