Critical Thinking Application

Critical thinking is the disciplined mental activity of evaluating arguments or propositions and making judgments that can guide the development of beliefs and taking action (Huitt, 1998). Critical Thinking is a mental process that allows one to find reason in a solution that answers a question. A process of many steps if used in the appropriate manner sets forth a foundation in solving a problem. Critical Thinking has many steps depending on the subject matter of the question. The steps one chooses are pinpointed by the severity of the problem.

The critical thinking process starts out with knowledge. All thinking starts with knowledge, whether a little bit or a good understanding of your thinking topic (Library.thinkquest). This is the starting point for making a decision. I have been juggling with the thought of looking for another job the last few months. I would stop and tell myself just go on and stay where I am until I graduate from UOP. I would tell myself no need to leave a job that is close to home and where I am making fairly decent money. The reason for wanting to leave is just one fellow coworker who is a busy body.

There were beginning to be more and more factors that were affecting my longing to leave.

Another important step is application. If you can't apply your thoughts and knowledge to anything, what good is thinking about it? Find something useful to think about (Library.thinkquest). I started looking at other available job opportunities but never applied for any of them. I feel that I was just looking to see what was available and still not comfortable with the thought of leaving. I was not persistent in my searches.

The next step that you need to do is analyze what you're thinking about. Divide information up into categories and subcategories. Select things that are the more important aspects, and solve them first (Library.thinkquest). I started making a pros and con list of all the reasons to stay with my present employer. My list of pros at that point was longer and seemed more sensible to me at that time. I also had an experience that has really pushed me harder to look for a new job. My boss was fired last week and the new manager and I do not work well together. I must also keep in mind I have two children that I support. It is this thought that keeps haunting me. Their welfare is so much more important to me then being happy at my place of employment.

The second to
