Conflicts are present in every day life. There are many different types of conflicts. They can be found in movies, songs, novels, and even short stories. Some types of conflicts in short stories deal with man versus beast, nature, or even man. Conflicts are in the novels, "The Birds", "Wood's Devil", "Poison", "Sea Devil", "The Most Dangerous Game", "The Interlopers", or "A Sound of Thunder", and in the movie Far From Home: The Adventures of Yellow Dog.

Conflicts that deal with man versus beast are in the short stories, "The Birds", "The Woods Devil", and "Poison". The example in "The Birds" was, well, the birds. The birds were attacking Nat's family. When Nathan was protecting himself in "The Woods Devil" is another great example of man versus beast. Nat conquered, killed, and skinned the wolverine to show he won the battle. In "Poison," the example is when the snake was on Harry's belly. That snake caused a lot of trouble.

Man versus nature conflicts are found in the movie Far From Home: The Adventures of Yellow Dog and in the short story, "The Sea Devil". In Far from Home: The Adventures of Yellow Dog, Angus had to deal with nature's worst. For example, when his dad's boat was caught in a terrible storm. In "The Sea Devil", the man had to deal with the same problems. He was pushed into the waves by a manta ray. Nature can be fierce.

The short stories, "The Most Dangerous Game," "The Interlopers," and "A Sound of Thunder" had the best conflict, man versus man. In "The Most Dangerous Game,"Zarrof wants to hurt Rainsfield. Rainsfield did not like that game very much. After Eckles and Trevor go back to the future in "A Sound of Thunder" and see the future the future is messed up, Trever shoots Eckles. In "The Interlopers," Ulrich and George have been fighting for years about a strip of land.
