Compare the Two World Wars

Both World War II and the First World War had many casualties over the years fought. In the First World War, allied powers Russia, USA, Britain, France and Italy, had a total of about 21,062,835 casualties

along with about 1,031,374 more from Japan, Romania, Serbia, Belgium, Greece, Portugal and Montenegro. The Central powers had about 15,404,477 from Germany, Austria-Hungary, Turkey and Bulgaria. An over all total of about 37,508,686. Possibly 62 million people lost their lives in World War IIÐ'--about 25 million soldiers and 37 million civilians. WWII Allied Powers were mainly the USA, France and Britain. As the Axis powers were mainly Germany, Japan and Italy. Both Wars had Rifles, Pistols, Machine-Guns, Armored Vehicles, and Tanks. Some examples of the weapons were flam throwers, grenades, bolt action riffles and Lewis Guns (Type of machine gun).But WWII had the same weapons but a little more advanced then during WWI. Some weapons during WWII were Bazooka's, Sniper Rifles, war planes (WWI didn't have planes), Semi-Automatic Rifles and more. But the way they fought were 2 different worlds. WWI was a trench warfare where you had attacks and offensives. An offensive was an attempt to hold any positions that was taken during the operation. This meant sustained fighting in forward positions and raised serious problems of supplying soldiers with ammunition, food and water. Also Chlorine Gas was used so staying focused was a hard thing to do. WWII was more a territory battle where you had to move quick to take land. There was no time for trenches, hence the name "Blitzkrieg". Blitzkrieg was a German tactic used in World War Two based on speed and surprise and needed a military force to be based around light tank units supported by planes and infantry. This was a major factor in war strategy, and a major threat. Genocide was present in both wars. In WWI, Armenian people were killed off. The Armenian Genocide was centrally planned and administered by the Turkish government against the entire Armenian population of the Ottoman Empire. It was carried out during W.W.I between the years 1915 and 1918. The Armenian people was subjected to deportation, expropriation, abduction, torture, massacre, and starvation. The great bulk of the Armenian population was forcibly removed from Armenia and Anatolia to Syria, where the vast majority was sent into the desert to die of thirst and hunger.
