Communication

I. INTRODUCTION

Communication is sending, giving, exchanging and sharing information, ideas or anything whether valuable or not, using a definite medium or pattern or sending these items or information through sound waves, visual contexts, and alphanumeric symbols.

Since time immemorial, Mankind has transferred information and discussed ideas with one another. By using such information and ideas they have received through

communication, man had started their development. Thru communication, they started to build their own communities, groups, kingdoms and civilizations. From an uttered sound that became audible symbols, that became something that we call a dialect and then became and developed as a language. From a distinct figure of some natural thing that transformed to a symbol that we know today as letters. Then these letters became readable words, until someone created a classical epic from it and evolved into something greater than any achievement of man. His History.

As communication evolves, so do the organisms that use it. Communication, with the advent of Science and Technology, started saving lives, changing them, but sometimes with unfortunate twist of fate, there are circumstances that communication, science and technology even destroyed the lives of the people that use it and even the innocent. It plays a vital for everyone, every day, every minute of their lives. Today, at a blink of an eye, information is passed, and distance is not issue anymore. With a push of a button, someone in Zimbabwe can receive a message, a thousand miles away from the message sender, from GMA, Cavite. After just 5 seconds, the receiver can read the message that would take weeks, if not months using the old-fashioned snail mail.

Communication is divided in two major categories namely: 1) Nonverbal communication, it is defined as a communication relating to actions, signs, or symbols, which is used to transmit information or ideas. 2) Verbal communication, on the other hand is a type of communication that uses speech, by making clear and comprehensible sounds that implies ideas and other important or not-so-important meanings; from one that delivers the message or the speech (the sender) to the one that receives the message audibly. These two forms of communication are considered valuable to the progress of humanity, well, that is, if used carefully and responsibly.

Communication plays an integral part in the daily life of man. Religion needs to communicate with its followers, give them rules, and provide them of spiritual satisfaction and save them from evil. Politics, of course and without any doubt, is in need of effective communication. Communication has proved its importance to the quest for truth. It also has very immense significance in the fields of Economics, Education and even Entertainment. As it evolved, problems are need not to be discussed only in the walls of the conference rooms and education outside the four walls of the classroom. Also, without effective communication there would never be social sciences, like Political Science, Philosophy, Sociology, Psychology and the like. Every thing in these studies depend on communication in on e way or another. To be successful in any field that you dream to excel you would want to enhance your communication skills.

II. DISCUSSIONS

Communication is vital to a person's life. It affects his behavior, his thoughts and the wholeness of his identity. In Psychology, verbal communication is important in analyzing one's behavior and personality through a medium called communication, more specifically, verbal communication. A psychotherapist would always want to talk to his patient clearly and sincerely. The therapist would want to discuss such problems personally and orally. As for certain studies, it would be easier to formulate theories about certain aspects of the patient's problem. He will be more likely to give the right and best prescription for the patient.
