My workplace can attain better working efficiency by using image processing to aid passport processing every day. This paper aims at highlighting feasibility and benefits of this system development.

The application of Digital Imaging in everyday life is getting prominent and can be extended by individuals in their homes, businesses, and companies to ease access for everyone. Within seconds, you can share photos through e-mail and social networking sites by the use of digital imaging. With the implementation of digital imaging as an allied activity in processes that involve reaching out to others can make the job easy and efficient. For instance, in processing passport, it is simpler and less time consuming than having to go elsewhere to take and print photos.

The process of applying for passport until recently was by manually filling out forms with pen. Now, online filling of the forms and submission of the same on the appointment date has become the practice. The availability of new technology has forced agencies to go for processes that would make the work easier for the customers. I feel it is wise to bring digital imaging into picture, as the passport application process is ever changing and there is always scope for improvement.

Digital imaging can be applied in the process to reduce the number of steps. If the applicant has a camera, he/she can take a picture of self and upload online on the form directly while filling the form. This saves a lot of time and money for the applicant. The payment can be made during the time of application. At the time of appointment, the applicant can bring the online filled form with the photo attached to it. The purchase will already be saved in the database and a discount can also be given to the applicant for having taken care of the step.
