Bullying Vs. Cyberbullying

Cyberbullying is a very hurtful thing to do to someone, because it may cause someone to hurt themselves. Some of the target points that effects of cyberbullying are feeling depressed, sad, angry, and frustrated (Hinduja, Sameer, and Justin W. Patchin). According to this article the youth like to create profile pages that they can harass other youth on and they will make fun of them on this profile because the teen that is getting cyberbullied does not know who is doing it. The age group that has been cyberbullied in their life time is the ages 11 to 18 years old (Hinduja, Sameer, and Justin W. Patchin). Some of the websites that the kids use to do the bullying on is Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter. I would say it would be easier to bully on Facebook because you can message someone that do not know you and you friend them because you think they are nice.  Only 17 percent of the people that do the cyberbullying will admit to o doing it. When the cyberbullying is all done and over with that on youth (Hinduja, Sameer, and Justin W. Patchin). The youth that got bullied feels that they are going to do suicide or they have suicidal thoughts. The reason that cyberbullying is done, it is way easier to be cruel to people over the internet then face to face, because nobody wants to do it face to face. They like to do it from a computer screen so that they cannot get caught. If a kid is caught doing this on a school computer or at school. The school need to make it clear to the student, parents, and the staffs that these behaviors are unacceptable and that they will subject to discipline. Sameer Hinduja and Justin W. Patchin attempts to convince their audience that cyberbullying is a successful thing and a hurtful thing to do because of the tone.

Sameer Hinduja is a professor at Florida Atlantic University and she partnered up with Justin W. Patchin. He is a professor at the University of Wisconsin. Both of them go around and speak to youth about the cause and consequences that cyberbullying have on the youth. They also have written books and articles on the misuse of the technology that the teens use (Hinduja, Sameer, and Justin W. Patchin). The tone that Sameer and Justin have on the effects of cyberbullying is mad. They want to try to eliminate cyberbullying by putting this article out, because it is very informational to students, teachers, and anyone else that my read the article.

I have watched a show called Betrayed at 17 on the Lifetime Movie Channel. Where Lexi and Greg took a video of something they should not of did. Carleigh’s boyfriend seen it and told her. When Greg went to football practice after practice he got a shower. Then Carleigh went into the boys’ locker room and got on to Greg’s phone and sent the video to her phone. Then she sent it too everyone else in the school. I would consider this cyberbullying because she should have never sent the video to everyone in the school. For that reason, Lexi broke up with her Greg because of Carleigh. Then Lexi went to a party to talk to Greg and after that she went running out, to get into her car which was across the street. Which she did not look both ways and got hit by a car and at that point she was died.

Cyberbullying and bullying do the same thing. Only that cyberbullying is online. Bullying is face-to-face, and bullying is done at schools. Both forms of bullying are very hurtful things to do.

The purpose of doing this writing is to learn more about cyberbullying and how it is very hurtful in both ways. Before doing this reading I really did not know much about cyberbullying and the affects that it has on people. I have learned that cyberbullying may cause suicide and to have suicidal thoughts. Cyberbullying is way worse than bullying only because it is done on the internet. The profile can be deleted if the one student tries to turn the other student in for what they did.

The kids that get cyberbullied have a lot of issues when it comes to going to school. Cyberbullying happens to teens that have low self-esteem. The bullies go after kids that they think that they can hurt. Most of the time kids that have been bullied and cyberbullied are thinking about hurting themselves such as suicide. Why would any kid want to hurt themselves? Nobody can answer that question expect the kid that is thinking suicide. When the kid gets bullied to many times, they will end up taking their life. They are thinking it hurt will hurt them too much to go on any longer and they cannot deal with it. If the schools would deal with the cyberbullying or bullying there will likely have less deaths of kids. I know at my school where I went the principal did not take care of the bullying the way he should of.
